“White Leader” of Neo-Nazi Azov Battalion Invited to European Parliament

Two political left-wing activists were nearly kidnapped in the city of Kharkov on May 20th 2014. Police was by-standing the event and watching – in the end it even guarded the kidnappers. Denis Levin and fellow Borotba activist Svetlana Licht were brutally attacked at the end of a rally against the government and fascism near the Lenin monument at Freedom-Square in Kharkov by unknown individuals who are probably Right Sector paramilitary members and Neo-Nazis. The armed and masked persons pulled up in a van, grabbed Denis Levin, beat him and handcuffed him. They put Svetlana Licht in a choke-hold as she tried to help Levin. Fortunately, activists leaving the rally and bystanders rushed to their aid and managed to free them. Police did not intervene to help the activists or arrest the attackers, even after one of the “men in black” fired warning shots in the air.

Shouting in the crowd: Stealing a human! Trying to steal a person! Police!
Woman: No! No! NO! Help!!!
Crowd: Police! Don’t touch her!
Woman: Release him! Don’t touch!
Crowd: People! People! Right sector here!
Person: They are killing me! They are killing me!
[Shooting in the air…]
Person: They are shooting! #$%
Person: Help him! (telling to the police officer)
Person: They came on that car!

While the ministry of interior is denying any involvement of itself or the police in this action a video appeared which is clearly showing that the armed and masked men are able to flee the scene with the help of the police. While bystanders are clearly showing the police that a kidnapping is taking place, the police is just watching the scene. Afterwards policemen are even guarding the van in which the armed and masked men arrived and now are hiding.

Official statements of the public authorities: “The law enforcement authorities determined all circumstances of the acts of hooliganism the unknown individuals committed at freedom square late on Tuesday”, the police said. “Neither representatives of political parties nor law enforcers have anything to do with this incident,” the PR department of the Interior Ministry main department for the Kharkov region said.

During the annual celebrations of Victory Day on the 9th of May 2014, which marks the capitulation of Nazi Germany to the Soviet Union in the Second World War and the liberation from Hitler-fascism something remarkable happened. The governor of Kherson region Yuri Odarchenko (member of Yulia Tymoshenko’s fatherland party) was booed by thousands including WWII veterans, when declared that the Soviet Union tried to enslave Ukraine, while Hitler tried to bring freedom to Ukraine.

“If you read history books, we have a number of documentaries on this, then we see that he [Hitler] first of all put forward a slogan of liberating people from the communist yoke, and liberating people from the tyrant Stalin,” Odarchenko said.

The crowd who was present to celebrate the victory over fascism and Hitler and not to celebrate Hitler himself his mass murder immediately started to shouting against the governor. One very courageous women holding a child in her hand tried to make this spectacle of promoting Hitler-fascism an end by throwing his microphone away.
