The bloody incident took place in the small Ukrainian village Melioratyvne, near the big city Dnipropetrovsk. A strong conflict flared up between the villagers and armed mercenaries of “Aydar” battalion, which is fighting for the Ukrainian government against the Donbass. The mercenaries tried to demolish the only statue of Lenin located in the village in the middle of the night. The villagers asked the mercenaries why they came to destroy the statue, which triggered a fight between the battalion and the villagers. Some 20 civilians were seriously injured. When police officers arrived at the scene, they were standing next to the fighters of the “Aydar” battalion and did nothing. The Ukrainian media did not report this incident.
The Ukrainian secret service SBU has published on its website that it has arrested a man, who allegedly is a member of the underground organization “Revolutionary Communists” . It is Alexander Gerasimov – independent Ukrainian communist. He was arrested on charges of wanting to organize the creation of a communist terrorist group. However, no weapons were found, only communist magazines that are held against him. Spreading “communist propaganda” was banned in Ukraine, since a new law was adopted on April 9th (see publication on the website of the Ukrainian parliament).
The ban also included the Communist Party KPU and the communist organization Borotba. The possession of publications of Borotba motivated the Ukrainian secret service to arrest Alexander Gerasimov.

Igor Khakimzyanov is the defense secretary of the self-proclaimed People’s Republic of Donetsk. He was detained by the Ukrainian Army on the 7th of May 2014 in Mariupol and is being tortured in prison. Amnesty International Ukraine reported about this case. The Ukrainian Committee for Human Rights is demanding the immediate release of Igor Khakimzyanov.
On May 7th 2014 Oleg Lyashko, politician, MP and presidential candidate, posted a message enclosing a videotape of the interrogation and ill-treatment of two prisoners. This scene takes place inside a car, reportedly at the airport near Mariupol. It is noticeable that the men have their hands bound behind their back. They sat in in the car with sacks on their heads until the investigator who is clearly the politician Oleg Lyashko himself ordered the armed men to remove the sack.
Someone removes the bags with a knife. One of the men is Igor Khakimzyanov, former minister of defense of the self-proclaimed People’s Republic of Donetsk. He was almost completely naked, with two deep cuts on the body that were bleeding. The other man was fully clothed.
The men during their interrogation revealed that Igor Khakimzyanov was arrested the day before. Another man was taken prisoner at the police station while recording license plates of cars that drove past. It becomes clear that the inquirer is here primarily since it was he who gives orders. You can also see at least 8 not identified people in black uniform in the car. Four of them are black Balaclava and holding Kalashnikovs. The person conducting the examination threatened Igor Khakimzyanov with life imprisonment. At the end of the video Khakimzyanov is blindfolded again and with the other prisoner transferred to a helicopter, of which is not clear who the owner is or where they are sent. The Inquirer reports that he arrested them in charge of organizing the attack on the Ukrainian military. There is no further evidence of this allegation.
Another video shows Igor Khakimzyanov still almost completely naked in a small room sitting at the feet of his captors. In this video which was shot before has no wounds. This leads us to the conclusion that he is being tortured.
