“White Leader” of Neo-Nazi Azov Battalion Invited to European Parliament

On March 16th, at 14:42 local time, a Ukrainian armored vehicle ran over a mother with her two children (five months and eight years old) in the Ukrainian city Kostyantynivka, part of Donetsk Oblast. One of the children, an 8 year old girl called “Polina”, was dead on the spot. The mother and her other child were hospitalized. According to a report by RT, the mother is in a coma.

Lieutenant Marian Rak had driven the tank in inebriated condition with a fellow officer, as witnesses confirmed. After the incident, he committed a hit and run. Now the Ukrainian president Petro Poroshenko decorated the lieutenant with an honorary medal for “outstanding leadership, organizational skills and perseverance that contributed to the decisive victory in the battle”.

Both officers of the Ukrainian army are said to have drunk so much before the accident, “that they could hardly stand on their feet”, eyewitnesses commented.

A Czech Member of the European Parliament, Jaromír Štětina, has invited the military commander of the white supremacist neo-nazi Azov Battalion, dubbed “White Leader”, Andriy Biletsky to come speak before the European Parliament to explain the motives, positions and plans of Azov to the MEPs with the aim of creating a dialogue.

Volunteer battalions are a significant, real political and military force in eastern Ukraine. Not to talk to them and not to know who they are means not to be interested in the solution to the conflict,” Štětina told the Czech news Agency, as Prague Post reports. He further stated that reports of mainly young neo-nazis being part of Azov were the results of Russian propaganda.

Does the EU need further explanation? Is a look at the battalion’s photos, military gear (with painted swastikas and SS runes on them), emblem (showing the “Wolfsangel” and a “White Sun”, both famous nazi symbols) and their public appearances (see photo below, click to enhance view) not enough to confirm their nazi identity? Apparently Members of the European Parliament don’t think so.

The police have cleared a small apartment house (Schewchenko street, Lvov) in a hurry after tenants had noticed that strangers were lurking in the basement and several cellar doors stood open. During the inspection a primed mine with cable release was discovered – it could’ve gone off at any time. The local police has evacuated over 40 residents. A team of deminers has been sent to defuse the mine.
