This question may sound like childish, specially if we take in account geography matters. However, that’s much more than a mere geography question, it’s a matter of values and politics. Since the first “Orange Revolution” in 2004, or to be more accurate, since the very first days of the so called Ukrainian nationalism, the defenders of an independent state in Ukraine claimed that this country, born from Russia, is a “European state” opposed to the evil “Asian Horde” presented by Russia, according to their ideas.

According to the speech of Nestor Pronyuk, member of SNPU, political party today called Svoboda (Liberty), one of the parties that rule Ukraine after Maydan, considered the first fascist organization registered in independent state of Ukraine, “Europe ends where Russian language and culture arises”. That was said during the V Congress of SNPU (Social-National Party of Ukraine) and was quoted by the Ukrainian magazine Orientiry, magazine of Svoboda party on political issues, in 1999.

One of the
One of the “nationalist” marches in Ukraine after Euromaydan, in reality a march of neonazi

Therefore, following the ideology of Ukrainian neonazi, during the so called Euromaydan, in Kiev, in 2014, many jumped and shouted that “Ukraina, tse Evropa” (Ukraine is Europe), not the “Mongoloid, Asiatic, backwards and barbaric state of Russia”, as they claim. It must be stated that according to Ukrainian nationalists, as well as the European neonazi, the Russian people (like Sharapova or Emelyanenko) have no European features, but Asian (like the princess Masako from Japan or the Chinese actor Jackie Chan), a speech created to justify russophobe policies from European states and deny any solidarity of Western Europeans with Russian people.

It happens that the ideology of the so called “Last Forepost of Europe before Asia”, that is, Ukraine, has nothing in common with Western European principles of Human Rights and Human Dignity (Menschenwürde). The new Ukrainian state was born under a putsch and theories of racial supremacy, claiming that Russians are a “non humans”, as stated by the prime-minister Yatsenyuk in a famous political speech. Such Ukraine faces no problem at all with neonazi organizations organizing great marches and demonstrations in front of public buildings and Russian embassies. Is Ukraine really Europe?

In Germany, a citizen called Andreas M., 57, decided to perform a Nazi salute before a demonstration of refugees in Germany. He did not expect that behind him stood a cop, who took him under arrest. Now Mr. Andreas M. faces the possibility of being jailed for 3 years. So, the question must be done again, is Ukraine really Europe?
